New regulations governing personal data protection became effective on 25th May 2018. These principles are contained in the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (abbreviated in Polish as RODO – Rozporządzenie o ochronie danych osobowych or in English as GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation). This regulation introduces unified law governing personal data protection in all Members States of the European Union hence also in Poland.
